Regain Energy

What I am reflecting?

Better Use of Energy

This week, I conducted a Coherent Advantage training, which is a program from HeartMath. The gist of this program is that it teaches people how to be resilient — how to recover their energy after using it — and helps cultivate a mindset of awareness, especially in how we use our energy through our emotions.

One of my reflections from this session is about energy drain. I shared this with the participants too. Our energy drain is deeply connected to the sympathetic nervous system, which triggers our fight-or-flight response.

For example, imagine you’re suddenly facing a tiger. You have two choices:

  1. You face the tiger and prepare to fight, or
  2. You spot the tiger and run the other way.

Either way — fighting or running — both take a huge amount of energy. In those moments, your body channels all its resources into survival. It diverts energy to your muscles and away from other functions like digestion or immunity.

So when systems like your digestive or immune system — which actually help generate and restore energy — are shut down, you start depleting your energy faster than you can replenish it. Over time, that’s very harmful to your body.

And here’s another deeper layer — life fulfillment. Many people struggle to find meaning or fulfillment in life, and that too becomes a long-term energy drain. Once you discover your life’s purpose, everything changes. You become calmer, more focused, more powerful, and deeply committed.

I just want to remind you — you’re not alone. If you haven’t figured it out yet, that’s perfectly okay. Be kind to yourself, or reach out to someone who has walked a similar path. There are experts and mentors who can help guide you through this journey.
