What I am reflecting?
Be Grateful and Count Blessings
This has been a busy week, busy because it is the festive season. This is the time when I spend my days and nights thinking about who I’m grateful for—the people who have helped, supported, smiled, laughed, cried, and enjoyed moments together with me this year.
I write a list of people I want to give thanks to. I recall them from my memory and look through the notes I captured throughout the year. This is how I mostly spend this week.
The reason for this is that I want to revisit the blessings I have received. I also want to let them know, of course. We do take things for granted—and I include myself in that.
Most of the time, it is very easy to complain, judge, and criticise. Pointing fingers comes naturally. However, we often forget to give enough credit when things in our lives meet our expectations.
That is the time to tell that person: this is the outcome I want, this is the behaviour that makes me happy, this is the friendship and relationship I am looking for.
When you do so, there are two outcomes. First, you let the other person know that you appreciate them for doing those things for you, which encourages them to do more of it in the future. Second, you are telling yourself that you are finding proof of what you want in life. Therefore, when the same occurrence happens again, it becomes easier for you to notice what you truly want.
You may call it the Law of Attraction, but in reality, you get what you want because you put effort into noticing it.
It has been a long week of appreciation and gratitude. So before you head into the weekend—
What are you grateful for this week?
Who would you want to call, just to say thank you?
(Tip: be specific about what you are grateful for.)
Have a great holiday.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!! 🎉
