What I am reflecting?
Stay Focus
At the beginning of the year, I realized that I have too many “branches” of passion, interests, and side hustles. I felt overwhelmed and lost at times. Simply because I don’t have the energy and time to focus on all of them.
On one hand, some of these are really good to explore. On the other hand, some are commitments that I’ve already made to my colleagues and friends—things I said I was going to do.
To be honest, I’m still feeling a bit lost. But one realization really stood out for me: I need to say NO to more things and start putting my focus.
Instead of branching out even more, I want to move toward converging. I want to focus on the things that I really, really, really want to do—things that bring value to me first, then to my family, and of course to the friends and community that I love.
It’s not easy to press the brake and put a pause on everything.
This week, a thought bubbled up, and this is what I’m going to do. I’m going to start with a ranking. I’ll put all the fun, exciting, and enjoyable plans on the table, and then rank them based on how important they are in my life.
Things like: what impact does this have on me? How much joy does it bring? And what are the future prospects?
After a few discussions, I find myself leaning more toward helping people through my coaching experience—especially adult coaching for now. Yes, there was a time when I considered working on a children’s program. For now, that can be put on pause and remain something just for my own children.
Once the ranking is done, I’ll know which one sits at the top of the list and where I should double down. From there, my activities, actions, and even my network can start to align around that focus.
Next, I’m going to do a bit of rating. By rating, I mean looking honestly at where I am right now in achieving it. This is something I’ve realized, whether in manifestation or in a coaching context: knowing where you’re heading is important—and that’s absolutely true.
But knowing where you are right now, your starting point, is just as important. Because that’s where you begin, and that’s how you know how far you need to go.
When I understand my starting point, it gives me a reality check. It helps me feel grounded. And from there, I can start taking small, steady steps toward my goals.
So to recap, I’m choosing to focus. I’ll start with a simple ranking to understand what truly matters, followed by rating to get clarity on where I am right now.
If you’re feeling like you have too many branches too, I hope this resonates with you. And if you’re looking for more focus, perhaps this kind of prioritization could help you as well.
Video I Watched
This week, I stumbled upon my childhood Kung Fu idol, Jet Li. First, I was impressed by his English, especially considering that throughout my childhood, he spoke mostly Chinese.
In the video, he shared a concept called “So be it,” which talks about doing your best regardless of the result. It’s about giving your absolute best while letting go of the outcome. He explained that while we can control our preparation and effort, we cannot control the final result or how others perceive it. By accepting the outcome—whether it’s good, bad, or average—we can find peace and avoid the emotional roller coaster that comes from external judgment.
