The Luck Equation

What I am reflecting?

What is the equation to be lucky?

Recently, I was listening to one of my favorite podcasts from Tim Ferriss, where he interviewed Jim Collins about his new book, What to Make of a Life. One concept that he reiterated again was the idea of luck.

As a practitioner of manifestation and the Law of Attraction, sometimes I do feel that I’m really lucky. And when I try to break down what luck actually means, I realize there are moments in life where things seem to happen fairly easily. Even when I face challenges, somehow, without fully knowing how, I’m able to find the answer — and sometimes even something better than what I originally expected.

Jim Collins mentioned that luck often comes from situations or events that happen to us — some within our control, and some not. Luck can be good luck, where things go the way we want, or bad luck, where unpleasant things happen to us. But when you really look at it, it all boils down to the event itself and how that event translates into your life.

One of the key ideas he shared was something called “Who Luck.”

Who Luck refers to the people you connect with in your life — the people you attract into your life. I like to think about this from the perspective of the Law of Attraction. Sometimes, by meeting one person, it becomes a pivot point in your life. That person may help you discover something new, trigger a different way of thinking, or give you new learnings through the relationship you build together. And that relationship can significantly improve your luck.

The interesting thing is that Who Luck is something you can actually influence and manifest.

For example, if you want to become a better coach or grow your business, you might ask yourself: “Who is the person that already has the answers or experience I’m looking for?” But it’s not just about thinking about that person. You should also think about how you can serve that person in return. The best relationships are always two-way, win-win relationships.

Once you become clear about that, your radar turns on.

And when that person appears in your life, you become more aware of the opportunity to connect with them. Maybe a more appropriate way to say it is not that you magically attract them, but that because they now exist in your awareness, you become more intentional about noticing and reaching out to them.

That is your Who Luck.

When you invest mentally through intention and physically through action, you create a much higher return on luck. Because of the actions you take, when opportunities appear, you are ready to grab them. And when you grab those opportunities, they often translate into meaningful returns in your life.

This was something I found really powerful this week — understanding a little bit more about what luck really is, and how luck can translate into success in life.

Who is your “Who Luck” in your life? Give him/her a note.

Quote I’m pondering

“The great challenge in life is to separate an opportunity to be seized from a temptation to be resisted.” – Lord Rabbi Jonathan Sacks

Affirmation I used

I am joyfully serving others knowing that I always get back more than I give.
