What I am reflecting?
Everyone Can Learn
This week is a reflection. A flashback to some of the great learning moments in my life.
It was February 2016. For some reason, I found myself signing up for an NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) class. Not because I had a plan. Not because I knew what NLP was. Purely out of curiosity.
A colleague had told me it was one of the best classes he had ever attended. With an open mind and an open heart, I said yes.
The class was great. The participants were great. The knowledge was great. My teacher was amazing.
To this day, I still keep in touch with some of the participants who have become dear friends. And I carry deep respect for the skills and knowledge my late teacher shared with us.
In 2022, the NLP thought bubbled up in my mind again. I wanted to introduce NLP to my colleagues. But before I could do that, I received tragic news. My teacher had passed away.
It was a devastating moment. I felt sad. And I felt disappointed in myself. Because a few months before, I had thought about calling her. And I didn’t. I kept putting it off. And then it was too late.
That stayed with me for a long time.
Eventually, I decided I still wanted to find a way to bring NLP to more people. So I connected with a training provider that my late teacher had once introduced me to. And that was how I first came to know Coach K.
I still remember the first time we met. A Macallum café. Coach K wearing his signature orange, white hair, glasses, quiet and composed. He didn’t say a lot. But the first impression, he is wise.
Something told me this connection was meant to happen.
From that day, my NLP journey continued to grow. Classes after classes. Coach K is one of the best trainers I have ever learned from, and I soaked up everything I could.
And this week, because of all of that how it started, I had the opportunity to record a podcast with a friend. Coach K was kind enough to lend us his space for this small experiment I had been wanting to try for a very long time.
The reason I’m sharing this is because sometimes, good things happen in our life when we keep believing. When we keep trying. When we keep experiencing.
And whatever happens, you either Win or Learn. It is absolutely good either way.
I saw a poster in Coach K’s studio that day. It stopped me in my tracks. It said: “Everyone Can Learn”. All you need is the intention, yes you can learn. Yes you can believe everyone else can learn.
That line says everything.
