Pick One Thing and Stay With It

What I am reflecting?

Pick One Thing and Stay With It

Welcome again to Manifested Friday.

This week, I want to reflect on a YouTube video that significantly changed the way I think.

The YouTube video is from the channel Struthless, and it is titled The Drawing Advice That Changed My Life.

In the video, he shared that when he started, he had not really figured out what he wanted to do. There were a lot of opportunities and talents that seemed like good things for him to focus on.

One day, one of his mentors shared some advice with him: focus on one thing.

So, he took his mentor’s advice and started drawing.

Not just any drawing, but one particular drawing of a bird.

Just that bird.

And he stayed focused on continuing to draw the same bird.

At some point, he shared that doing the same thing over and over again will be boring.

Yet, that is what allowed him to get into mastery, specialization, and focus.

If you focus on ten things at once, you may only be able to move ten things from level zero to level one.

However, if you focus on a single thing, you may be able to level up from level zero to level ten.

That piling-up of effort is something crucial that we could have in our lives when we focus on one thing.

What made this resonate with me is the idea of reprioritizing.

To look at what I have now and ask myself:

What is the one single thing that I want to focus on?

What is the one single thing that I am committed to for the rest of the year?

And then, just do that.

Not jump here and there.

Not try to be good at multiple things.

Just focus.

This is one interesting video that I watched twice this week, and I believe this video will be useful for you too.

Just have a watch and let me know what you think.

Maybe it will also make you feel that you are not the only person who focuses on too many things, yet there is something that we want to change.

To focus on one significant thing this year.

Quote I’m pondering

“I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.” – Bruce Lee

Affirmation I used

I focus on the one task that matters most, and I let the rest wait.
