What I am reflecting?
Mindset. Skill Set. Ready Set Go.
I’ve been listening to Jack Canfield this week, and it’s amazing to learn about his story of rejection — after rejection — and yet another rejection of his book.
As you know, Jack Canfield is famous for his book “Chicken Soup for the Soul” and was also featured in the great documentary “The Secret.”
He and his co-author, Mark Victor Hansen, were rejected 144 times before a publisher finally said, “Yes, we’ll publish it.”
Jack then asked, “How many copies do you think it will sell?”
Without hesitation, the publisher replied, “If you’re lucky, probably 20 thousand copies.”
Astonishingly, Jack responded, “No, it’s going to sell 1.5 million copies in one and a half years.”
And in just 1.5 years, they sold 1.3 million copies of the book. That’s a heck of a lot of books!
Fast forward to today — Chicken Soup for the Soul has become:
- A #1 New York Times Bestseller
- Translated into over 40 languages
- Sold over 600+ million copies worldwide (and counting)
What amazed me most — both listening to him and reading his many books — is his mindset and simple actions.
He often talks about using visualization to attract what he wants in life. For me, it’s about resonating at the right frequency, aligning seamlessly so that things naturally come to you.
Not to mention the power of goal setting — when you set the right goal and combine it with visualization. Jack shared that he once printed a giant $100,000 bill and stuck it on his wall. Along with that, he made this affirmation:
“God is my infinite supply, and large sums of money come to me quickly and easily as I earn $100,000 a year.”
Then, about two months later, he received the idea that would make it happen — by writing and selling his new book, 100 Ways to Enhance Self-Concept in the Classroom. He would earn $0.25 per copy sold. That’s when it hit him — selling 400,000 copies would make him $100,000.
I bet his heart was full of excitement just thinking about that idea.
What I’ve learned from this is that everything starts with Mindset. “If you think you can, or you think you can’t — you’re right.” Therefore, having the right mindset matters most.
The next is your Skill Set. Once the mindset is right, you need the insight to understand what it takes to succeed. Build and strengthen the skill set required for what you do. If you’re born with or already have certain skills, fully optimize them.
That’s because the universe operates on the principle of least resistance.
The more relaxed you feel, the more you’re aligned. It’s not just about your ability to do something — it’s also about your heart feeling light and open to take action.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, comes Ready, Set, Go. That’s right — take action! Only through action will you see real results and witness your goals manifest into reality.
Jack’s story deeply resonates with me — the way he uses visualization to see his goals and attract what he desires effortlessly and easily.
So, what is your goal? And how are you visualizing it?
