My Focus This Year

What I am reflecting?

Dedication to a Meaningful Course

As a person who is creative and innovative, I’ve always had a lot of ideas. Good ideas. And along the way, I’ve also developed many interests.

When I look back, this has always been me — bundles of ideas, getting excited when someone shares something new with me. My mind just lights up.

But lately, I’ve been thinking more seriously.

Out of all these ideas… which one am I truly going to implement? Which one will I commit my focus and energy to? Which one will move beyond just my dreams and visualizations — and actually become reality? Something that brings value to the world, to the people I love, and to the things that truly matter to me.

This year, I’m truly lit up by the concept of a coaching clinic.

Let me share an observation with you. The other day, my wife went for Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The practitioner started by asking questions — Do you feel pain here? How does it feel? What are the sensations? What are the symptoms? Open your mouth and stick your tongue out. She went through everything carefully.

Then she checked my wife’s pulse. From that, she could diagnose — you’re too “heaty,” something is stuck, the flow isn’t good. Then she proposed remedies and advice to my wife.

There’s a system. She is exercising her skills and experience. There’s a way to assess and help my wife by the tools she acquired.

And it got me thinking.

As a coach, we also have my own skills to help people — without medication. Different tools, but still powerful, just like a TCM practitioner or any other doctor.

What if there was an actual physical coaching clinic? A dedicated space open during specific hours. A place where people can walk in to de-stress, to relax, to talk things through. A place where coaches guide them to rest deeply, regulate their emotions, gain clarity, and maybe even move toward achieving their goals.

Clients get better through the power of coaching — empathy, active listening, asking great questions, and following a structured coaching process.

I truly believe this is possible.

The idea of a coaching clinic excites me.

I’m grateful that I’ve managed to connect with partners with whom I feel a strong sense of connection and possibility. I can already imagine the joy of working closely together to materialize this dream. No matter what, I believe it will be meaningful and fun.

For now, I just want to share this with you — this is something I’m passionate about. And moving forward, I’ll probably give updates as the coaching clinic progresses.

I also believe that the more we create awareness, the more people realize they have alternatives. They have options. It’s always good to seek advice, to explore different approaches. Sometimes, the easier path might actually be the better path.

As we’re heading into Chinese New Year, I can already feel the good vibe, the good energy, the festive atmosphere. I really enjoy this season.

So if you’re celebrating, Happy Chinese New Year.

If not, happy holidays to you.

Spend time with your loved ones — your family and your friends.

What I’m Reading

I’m a big fan of Robert Cialdini’s Principles of Persuasion. It consists of many techniques that you can use to influence others.

This week, I’ve been reading a book by Chris Voss, Never Split the Difference. I really, really, really like this book because of the easy-to-implement negotiation techniques that I can immediately apply.

There’s also something unique about it. It feels like both a non-fiction and fiction book combined — because of the stories and real experiences Chris shares from his time negotiating in the FBI. The way he brings you into those moments makes the lessons stick.

It’s really a good read.

Pick it up if you want to improve your negotiation skills — not just at work. You can use it at Starbucks. You can even use it with your children.
